You need to know these to win a steep green
We have introduce to your about different kinds of obstacle you may get in a golf field from sand bunkers to water and trees. However, many people believe that the green is also a potential danger, especially when you do not have experience and are at a steep green. The technique involved in this case is called “Plumb-bobbing”. In a simple way, it literally means measuring how high is the green so that you know how many hits you have to make. This is a complicated skill that required continuous practising and an eye for details. Below is the details of this technique for your reference. Before introducing it to you, we want to confirm that even though this is the tip we have for the problem, it does not work all the time.
The first and foremost factor that affect your calculation is your prominent eye. This is not a familiar definition with many people. They know if they are right handed or left handed but don’t know which eye is their prominent one. In playing golf, this factor is as important as in painting. When you measuring the height of the green to decide your next moves, you need to use your main eye. This allows the accuracy of your calculating results. In order to know which one is your prominent eye, you just need to do one simple pose using your right hand. Firstly, you make a round shape using your two first fingers in your right hand. After that you target on an object in front of you and make it right into that round shape. Then you close your eye each one after the other. In which case when you see the object in that circle, that is your prominent eye. Like painters, you make a clear look on the object far ahead and see them in a clearer look. By doing this, you can basically assume how high is the green and make a strategic calculation in your minds of how many hits you have to make.
In this case you will need to use both your putter and your club. Because this technique does require a lot of skills to make it perfect. First of all you look at the hole and get all the information related to it. After that you stand close to the ball as much as possible and use your prominent eye to make sure you are going the right direction. If the hole is in the right hand side of the ball then you make a swing that make the ball from exactly from left to right and it is the same if the hole is in the opposite side. When the ball get closer to the hole, you can use your putter to make small but effective hit for the ball to go straight to the hole. That is when you have finished the whole “Plumb-bobbing” process. To be honest, this skill sounds so simple and everyone can do it. In fact, it is not a difficult one to achieve but it does require a lot of practising and a sharp eye for details to catch every small factors.
We hope that after reading this article, you feel much confident in dealing with steep greens. However, we still want to warn you again that this skills may give you some useful results but they are not 100% reliable. You need to keep practising and make sure that you are paying enough attention to your games or else you may not get to your targeted hole even in a green.
