Learn how to read a golf course
You are very good at selecting golf clubs for each of your swing and hit. You are confident with your hitting techniques and you know all the tips and tricks to get the best hits. However, you still fail in mastering the game and you always feel like you have been lost and you can not find the way out. Everything seems to be out of your reach and your control.
If you are in this situation then it might be because you can not read a golf course properly and you are not a good golf course manager. If you can not take the whole picture in your mind, read it through and find the ways to deal with it, then you will play like a drunk who hit the ball to nowhere. There is no point to practise your techniques and skills when you can not even know where to hit your balls, how to do it to save your hits and to beat your competitors. The below tips may give you some insight into this issue and hope to bring you out of this complicated matrix.
The golf clock
When you look at the green field in front of you and you want to point out your target, let take the whole thing as a big clock and make the points according to the hour. You can put your target hole at the six o’clock point and then you just need to hit the ball following the clockwise which will assure your ball goes the right direction. It is the same if your targeted holes are in the eight or ten or twelve o’clock positions. There is no need to be rush because everything is there and you only need to read them out. However, this sounds easier than actually do it because the clock is intangible and you can not see it for real. You can only imagine it and you will see that it takes some time to master the skills. But it will pay you off once you get to the point to master it.
Read on the horizontal line
Always bear in mind that you have to read the position and the distance in a horizontal line but not vertical line. Even when you are climbing a hill and you are supposed to hit the ball to a hole in vertical line but it does not help if you read the hole in the same direction. Because no matter where the hole is, your ball and your club are sitting in the same horizontal line. More important is that by doing this, you can measure in your mind how steep is the hillside and how it affects your hit and your ball. When you draw a line from your ball to the targeted hole you may see that one of them is in lower place and the other is in higher place. You can visually and mindly measure the hillside and decide on how hard or how much strength do you have to put in a swing.
Due to the development of technology and internet, there are now many devices that can support you in reading the golf course and manage the golf game. However, sometimes it is not a bad idea for you to practise these special techniques and skills as they are the basic and will help you a lot.
